Inspired by the saying from Gujarat, India, “Athithi Devo Bhava”—which means “Every guest is a god”—our philosophy is to extend heartfelt warmth, care, and respect to everyone who walks through our doors.

Our story begins in India, where I grew up immersed in a farming culture that celebrated simplicity, connection, and nature’s bounty. While schooling was prioritised, I seized every chance to visit the farms. One of my most cherished memories was delivering meals to hardworking family members and workers during the harvest season. As a young boy, I couldn’t walk far with heavy lunches, but we had an incredible horse who seemed to understand everything. She carried me and the meals to the fields, ensuring everyone was nourished and energised for the day ahead. My reward? Staying at the farm until sunset, soaking in the joy of community and good food shared under the open sky.

That deep-rooted connection to fresh ingredients and wholesome meals became the foundation of Cafe Kesar. Food isn’t just sustenance; it’s the fuel for our bodies and nourishment for our minds. We believe in creating dishes that bring people together, using the finest ingredients to craft flavours that are both satisfying and comforting.

Now that our children are grown and self-sufficient, we have the opportunity to share our passion for food and hospitality with the Finnish community. At Cafe Kesar, we combine our Indian heritage with local tastes, offering a menu that’s a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.
